Wyoming Highway 451 (WYO 451) is a east-west Wyoming State Road in Weston County that acts as a spur from U.S. Route 16 at Osage west to Weston County Routes 22 and 36B. Route description Wyoming Highway 451 begins its western end west of Osage at Weston County Route 22 and County Route 36B just west of Beaver Creek in the Thunder Basin National Grassland. County Route 22 (Oil City Road) is the continuation of the roadway westward. WYO 451 heads west and ends at US 16 in the census-designated place (CDP) of Osage. Osage is a census-designated place (CDP) in Weston County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 151 at the 2020 census. Geography Osage is located at (43.982948, -104.424145). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.9 square miles (5.0 km2), all land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 215 people, 101 households, and 61 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 111.0 people per square mile (42.8/km2). There were 124 housing units at an average density of 64.0/sq mi (24.7/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.74% White, 2.79% Native American, and 0.47% from two or more races. Weston County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 6,838. Its county seat is Newcastle. Its east boundary line abuts the west line of the state of South Dakota. History Weston County was created by the legislature of the Wyoming Territory on March 12, 1890, of land partitioned from Crook County. Weston County was named for John Weston, a geologist and surveyor. In 1887, Jefferson Weston and Frank Mondell found rich coal deposits north of Newcastle which caused a railroad to be built through the area. Thunder Basin National Grassland
The Thunder Basin National Grassland is located in northeastern Wyoming in the Powder River Basin between the Big Horn Mountains and the Black Hills. The Grassland ranges in elevation from , and the climate is semi-arid. The Grassland provides opportunities for recreation, including hiking, sightseeing, hunting, and fishing.
